Upload your CAD design. Get instant manufacturability feedback. See what your design actually costs to make — free, and open to engineering students across Europe.
Free to enter. No 2D drawings, no company account, no manufacturing experience required. Applications close 1 December 2026, 23:59 CET. Terms and Conditions apply.
Future Engineers Start Here is a challenge from meviy, MISUMI's on-demand manufacturing platform. Submit a 3D CAD model of a real engineering project and get professional manufacturability feedback — the kind most engineering students only see after a drawing gets rejected.
Manufacturability is usually taught the hard way: through rejected drawings, not through explanation. This programme closes that gap directly. MISUMI has run it in Japan since 2023, where student teams already use meviy for competition and research components. This is the first time it's been offered to European students.
Feedback on a real project, from meviy's engineering team. A chance to win manufacturing credit worth up to €1,500. And direct experience of a manufacturability review, before you need it for a job.
Get feedback most students never receive. Manufacturability reviews are standard in industry and rare in coursework.
Work with a real project. Submit your thesis, club build or competition entry — not a test file.
No 2D drawings, no company account, no manufacturing background required.
Win manufacturing credit. Three prize tiers, from €500 to €1,500, redeemable on the meviy platform.
No purchase necessary at any stage.
You'll need a meviy account, a 3D CAD model of your project, and about ten minutes.
Three prize tiers, from €500 to €1,500, redeemable on the meviy platform.
Vouchers are valid for 90 days from issue, have no cash alternative, and can't be transferred, resold or exchanged for anything else.
Every entry is scored against a published rubric, by two judges from meviy's engineering and product team. You know exactly what you're being judged on before you apply.
Did you act on the instant feedback, or upload once and stop? A documented iteration cycle scores highest.
Complexity relative to your skill level, benchmarked against your year group — a first-year's bracket isn't a postgraduate's.
Is this an active project — a thesis, club build, or competition entry — rather than a throwaway test file?
Genuine motivation, judged from your written answer and backed by the revisions you actually made.
How specific is your answer about what comes next — a competition entry, research use, publication, or a startup idea?
Total: 100 points. Technical core (dimensions 1–3) makes up 70 points. The human dimension (dimensions 4–5) makes up 30 points.
Two judges score every entry independently. Scores are combined and ranked. The top entries get a joint review, to check nothing's scored purely for being unusual. Ties are broken by the manufacturability engagement score.
This section summarises the rules that apply to the programme. It's a plain-language guide, not a replacement for the full Terms and Conditions.
To apply, you'll need: a completed application form with accurate contact details; a 3D CAD model (for example, in STEP format) of a real, self-designed engineering component or project; and a short written description of the project, your design intent, and the feedback you're after. No 2D drawing, company account or prior manufacturing experience is required. You must hold the rights to submit your files, and they must not contain confidential information belonging to anyone else — for example, an employer or research sponsor.
The Organiser may change these dates; any change will be published on this page.

No. The programme is designed to need neither. You don't need a 2D drawing either — a 3D CAD model is enough.
A completed application form, a 3D CAD model of a real project (STEP format works well), and a short description covering your project, your design intent, and the feedback you're after.
Yes. You can apply as the authorised representative of a university engineering society, robotics club, or similar student organisation. Every team member whose work is included must meet the eligibility criteria.
Two judges from the meviy engineering and product team score every entry independently, against a published 100-point rubric: 70 points for manufacturability, feasibility and design intent, and 30 points for communication and engagement with the process. Scores are combined and ranked, and the top entries get a joint review before results are confirmed.
Manufacturing credit vouchers on the meviy platform: €1,500 for first place, €750 for second, €500 for third. Vouchers are valid for 90 days and have no cash alternative.

No. Participation is free, and no purchase is necessary at any stage.
You keep full ownership of your work. The Organiser only reviews it for judging and administering the programme, and treats your files as confidential. It won't use your project in marketing without asking you separately first.
Yes. You need approval from your academic advisor, or another responsible faculty member, before you apply.
